In the beginning the music sounded like a xylophone, hitting the perfect notes to create a positive environment for me to become focused and mindful. As the speaker went along I could feel my body relaxing, and was amazed that as I felt a warmness fill my hands and arms he explained this would happen and why.
The body, when at rest, sends about 80% of total blood volume to the abdominal area - the gut. When focused and mindful, it is easy to encourage the blood flow to move from the abdomen into another part of the body, in this case the arms and hands; feeling the saturation of oxygen- and nutrient-carrying blood to reach every cell envisioned. By saturating these muscles with blood flow tension is eased out of the muscles and allows for greater relaxation.
This type of meditation is very helpful to calm one's body responses when facing stress, fatigue, and illness or dis-ease.
Wishing you calm, focused, mindful moments of health,
M
